Photographer Jeff Stroud uses his camera to search out images of the world around him that he finds serene, peaceful and illusive. Recognized for his street photography, he still finds Nature to be his favorite inspiration.

“The Nature photographs are of interesting plants/subjects I find on my walks with the Muffin and Riley, my two golden retrievers. Each walk offers different perspectives, the time of day, the sunlight shining through the trees illuminating vines, leaves and blades of grass.  What I like to do with my photography is not grand scale landscapes but simple elegant aspects of the ever evolving nature that anyone can view on a walk along their street or nature path.”
Luckily for Jeff Stroud he lives near a plot of woods and spends part of each day surrounded by trees, underbrush and wild plants. His eye for subtle compositions and objet trouve´ discovers combinations of hard and soft light, deep darkness and golden illumination, a simple weed takes on monumental meaning as a metaphor for the wealth of riches in our environment. Walking the dogs can be a chore but Stroud takes his camera with him everywhere so that he’s ready when presented with an opportunity to create art.

“The Photography of Jeff Stroud is one of common everyday nature, places we walk, places we drive by, your garden, your local park, your neighbor’s front lawn. Yet there is nothing common about Jeff’s photography itself which is imbued with a sense of nature’s essences in all its purest forms. Eight years ago after attending a Shamanic workshop and the practice of Reiki, a Nature based healing process, Jeff picked up a camera and as followed his bliss ever since. His approach to photography is one of gentle reverence, beauty, and honoring of nature as a life force. The purpose of Jeff’s nature photography is to share the beauty that is all around us, the beauty and life of trees, flowers, water, and sky.” – Jeff Stroud artist profile

Jeff Stroud shoots his photographs with a Nikon D60 digital camera with an 18-55 lens. He has been taking pictures for over 12 years and has amassed a broad range of subjects from still life, to nature images, street life and documentary images. Currently several of his works are on display in a group show at Galleria Deptford located in the Deptford Municipal Building, 1011 Cooper Street, Deptford, NJ. The public space is curated by New Jersey art maven Pauline Jonas with ongoing art exhibits, art workshops, art films and lectures. Jeff says of Pauline, “I am grateful to exhibit with twenty-two artists from ASNJ, Artists of Southern New Jersey, at Galleria Deptford. Pauline Jonas is one of hardest working curators I know. Bringing art and artists together at the Galleria and venues in surrounding counties.”

I am most grateful for this very nice review of my photography and what it means to me as an artist and person to have the work exhibited and viewed!

Thank you DoN so very much!

I am not sure that only my photographs should be single out of this wonderful exhibition at The Galleria Deptford. There are 21 other very talented photographers, some showing for the first time among seasoned local artist… I am honored to exhibit among them

Grateful:
Jeff
