“Popular dream symbols such as falling, flying, and various animals are illustrated using watercolor.” – Lauren Ladner
Courtney La Prince, Pushing Forward, Breaking Boundaries. Foster Youth: Defeating the Odds, Emerging Artists & Designers: Senior Show 2013, Moore College of Art and Design
“My thesis focused on the educational aspects of foster youth throughout the nation. I created a 4 series info-graphic posters on the statistics of education within foster care-versus the general population.” – Courtney La Prince
Click the image for a closer look at these info-graphic designs. The ontological content and sociological context reveals an aspect of the American foster care system in a really beautiful way. The color palette is easy on the eyes, the typography is clear and simple to read, the information design is an instant meme. 2% of foster kids earn a college degree. What?

“Heavily inspired by object imagery and memory. Recreating nostalgic fictitious spaces in 2D and 3D medium.
Influence by films, sexploitation, bikersploitaton,Biker magazines, Advertisement, beer labels, Bars.” – Erin McGrath
Erin McGrath took the corner spot and created a portal to the past with orange crushed velvet chair, piled beer cans, biker cool embroidery, wide open beaver pics, hot babes in hot pants, neon beer signs, girly mags all amassed like Duchamp’s Etant Donnes except there’s no peep hole. It’s all there. All that signifies masculinity and the classic cool of the Marlboro man is lathered on the space with lurid realness.

Congratulations to all of the Moore College of Art and Design Senior Class of 2013, the senior exhibition is strong, professional and the ideas illustrate the boundlessness of graphic design, illustration and art. The combination of traditional techniques mixed with digital design tools invigorates information design with youthful energy. The installation is through May 18th, 2013 in the Galleries at Moore College of Art and Design, 19th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia. There is a closing reception Saturday evening.
