December First Friday DoN made the art crawl to Old City and saw the new …gallery…, the Third Street Gallery on 2nd Street show, Vivant Art Collection where Florcy Morriset said to write about First Friday, just First Friday. Visiting Artists’ House on First Friday epitomizes the experience of the monthly art crawl extravaganza that has become a Philadelphia tradition – there is always so much new to see. The Small Works 2012 show at Artists’ House closes today but here are some fine examples of the expansive show of small artworks included in the memorable exhibit.
Robert Bohne´, Town on C&D Canal, Strawberries, oil on panel, Artists’ House Small Works 2012.
Frances Galante, Bouquet in a Glass Mug, oil, Artists House Gallery
Adam Vinson, Relics, oil, Artists House Gallery, Small Works 2012
David Palumbo, Rabbit, Artists House Gallery
Patrick Crofton, East to the Delaware, oil on copper, Artists House Gallery
Robert Sampson, Passages 6, monotype, Artists House Gallery
Kate Samworth‘s miniatures are essentially what this show is all about – small works of art that fit in anywhere. The tiny still life paintings, brilliantly presented are delightful and skilled, the fine detail and atmospheric naturalism divine.
Kate Samworth, Jar of Eggshells, Feather, Artists’ House Small Works 2012
The Artists’ House Small Works 2012 ,57 North 2nd Street, Philadelphia, represents many of Philadelphia’s finest artists with exquisite small paintings and miniatures that inspire the imagination and show that art can fit into any space. Today would be a perfect day to visit Old City to find a perfect gift of art. January First Friday will be here before you know it. Happy New Year!
